Podgumer Monastery “St. Demetrius” is located near the village of Podgumer, close to Sofia. It was founded in the fourteenth century during the Second Bulgarian Empire and belonged to the Sofia Holy Mountain monastic circle. Destroyed and rebuilt several times under Ottoman rule, the present church dates from 1928 and remains an active Orthodox spiritual center for pilgrims and visitors.
