The museum is the real coal mine from 1891. You enter 50 meters underground. The length of the museum is 600 meters of tunnels with an exhibition, digging machines and history. It is so interesting that it is a must. The museum is located behind the Mining Department building next to the Pernik Municipality in the center.

The Underground Mining Museum in Pernik is unique for the Balkan Peninsula. It is located in two of the preserved galleries of the first underground mine, known as the "Old Mines" (1891). The two galleries have a total length of about 630 meters. The history of coal mining for more than a century is presented in the exhibition chambers of the museum - from manual mining and the removal of coal with wooden carts and targa, through transportation with a cone to the Siemens electric locomotives and mechanized coal mining complexes.

50 meters underground, visitors experience not only the mining industry and the history of coal mining, but also the unique history of a city, born from the "black gold".

The museum is part of the 100 national tourist sites.
