The Church of St. Andrew the First‑Called in the Banished district of Sofia is an Orthodox church dedicated to Apostle Andrew and the memory of Bulgarian volunteers in the liberation wars of 1877–1878, 1885 and 1912–1913. Built and consecrated in 1926 with the blessing of Metropolitan Stefan I, it was destroyed by a bomb in January 1944 during World War II and rebuilt by 1948. The church was further expanded in the 1950s and consecrated again in 1972, serving as a significant spiritual center.
