Pancharevo is the largest lake near the capital. The panoramic tour of the lake begins at the dam wall on the outskirts of the village of German, and runs parallel to the shore. There is a 1300-meter-long beach, which is separated at the southern end of the lake from where it connects to the thematic "Iskar Water Park". From the "Plazha" area, the "Plana" protected area begins, which is included in the "NATURA 2000" ecological network under the Habitats Directive.
It covers part of the Plana mountain and the adjacent section of the Iskar River, between the Iskar dam and the Pancharevo lake. In the area of the mineral springs there is spa, sports and entertainment complex with a fitness center, a SPA center and a restaurant. The mineral water is hot (47 °C), with a flow rate of 12 l/s, slightly mineralized (0.495 g/l), calcium and magnesium bicarbonate.
The National Rowing Center "Sredets" on the shores of Pancharevo Lake is the oldest specialized sports facility in Bulgaria for conducting training and competitions in rowing disciplines. It hosted two world cups - in 1977 and 1981. Currently, it is a modern sports and recreation center with a hotel section, a restaurant-beerhouse, a sushi bar, a pastry shop, a modern spa center, a fitness center and a dance hall.
