St. Sedmochislenitsi Church in Sofia is a Bulgarian Orthodox church dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius and their five disciples. The building was originally built in 1528 as the Black Mosque by order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent on the site of an older Christian church. After Bulgaria’s Liberation in 1878 it served as storage and a prison. From 1901 to 1903 it was converted into a church and consecrated on 27 July 1903. The interior paintings were completed by 1996.
