The building of the Bulgarian National Bank

Visit

The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) was founded on 25 January 1879 as a state institution, and its central building was built between 1935 and 1939 by architects Ivan Vasilyov and Dimitar Tsolov. They created a U-shaped architectural complex, at the open end of which is located the medieval Ottoman building of today's Archaeological Museum. Its facades are lined with limestone slabs (mined from the Vratsa region) and are decorated with sculptural figures and compositions symbolizing its purpose. The building has been declared a cultural monument.
