The Church of St. Petka Samardzhiyska in central Sofia is a medieval Orthodox church, partly sunken into the ground, built in the 11th century on an ancient Roman cult site with 4th-century remains beneath. It is dedicated to St. Paraskeva (Petka) of Iconium. In the Middle Ages it was supported by the saddlers’ guild, hence its name. The interior features frescoes from the 14th–16th centuries. Its feast day is October 28.
