The Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God (Pokrov Bogorodichen) in Sofia was built between 1922 and 1926, initiated by philanthropist Yordanka Filaretova as part of a charitable complex for the homeless and elderly.
Its richly gilded iconostasis dates from the second half of the 19th century, originally from the Russian Pantaleimon Monastery on Mount Athos and transferred to Sofia after the Russo‑Turkish War.
The church is notable for its architecture and historic icons, reflecting Orthodox spiritual and cultural heritage.
