The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia was built between 1882 and 1912 as a memorial to Russian soldiers who died for Bulgaria’s liberation.
It was consecrated in 1924. The cathedral is Neo-Byzantine, featuring a grand dome and golden roofs.
Its interior is decorated with mosaics, icons, and Bulgarian marble columns.
It is one of Sofia’s landmarks and the largest Orthodox cathedral in Bulgaria.
