Sofia strengthened its position as an emerging and competitive MICE destination during its participation in Conventa 2026 in Ljubljana, one of Central and Southeast Europe's leading trade events for the meetings, incentives, conferences and events industry.
The Visit Sofia team presented the Bulgarian capital as a modern European city offering excellent conference infrastructure, high-quality event venues and a strong network of professional partners. Particular emphasis was placed on Sofia's strategic location, rich cultural heritage and dynamic business environment, all of which create ideal conditions for hosting international congresses, conferences and incentive programmes.
During a series of pre-scheduled B2B meetings, Visit Sofia representatives met with leading international event organisers. The strong interest shown by buyers confirmed Sofia's growing recognition on the European MICE market. Once again, Conventa proved to be a valuable platform for building long-term partnerships and creating new opportunities for international cooperation.
Conventa 2026 – Scale and Vision
The 2026 edition brought together more than 400 participants from 44 countries, including 192 hosted buyers and 129 exhibitors representing 18 countries. More than 3,700 pre-scheduled business meetings took place throughout the event.
Despite its impressive scale, Conventa continues to follow its core philosophy of quality over quantity, focusing on meaningful business connections, industry innovation and practical solutions that support the sustainable growth of the international meetings industry.
