Official Ceremony Unveils Commemorative Postage Stamp Dedicated to Sofia's Public Transport

Today, 3 April 2026, an official ceremony took place at the Tram 83 Tourist Information Centre to unveil a commemorative postage stamp celebrating 125 years of tram transport and 85 years of trolleybus transport in Sofia.

The event held special significance as it coincided with the 147th anniversary of Sofia being declared the capital of Bulgaria, marking the beginning of the city's modern development, with public transport playing a vital role throughout its history.

From the first tram lines to today's modern transport network, Sofia's public transport is much more than a means of travel. It reflects the city's development, identity and vision for the future.

The new commemorative stamp is more than a philatelic issue—it serves as a symbolic bridge between the past and the present, highlighting that Sofia's progress continues to build upon its rich traditions.

The ceremony was attended by Acting Minister of Transport and Communications Korman Ismailov, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev, Deputy Mayor for Transport Viktor Chaushev, and the stamp's designer, Svetlin Balezdrov.
