From 12 to 15 November 2025, Sofia is hosting the 38th Annual Conference of the international academic network Businet, a prestigious forum bringing together nearly 200 representatives from 95 higher education institutions across Europe and beyond. This is the first edition of the conference to be held in Bulgaria, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase Sofia to the international academic community.
Businet is a global network of public and private universities and colleges sharing a common vision for internationalisation and the sustainable development of cooperation in higher education. Its annual conference is one of the network’s key academic events, offering a programme of lectures, workshops, professional meetings and discussions focused on sharing best practices and building partnerships between institutions.
Visit Sofia is participating as an official partner of the event, helping position the Bulgarian capital as a modern European city with a rich cultural, educational and innovative environment.
As part of the Global Aperitif Café, the Visit Sofia team presented a selection of Bulgarian wines and traditional delicacies, giving participants an opportunity to experience authentic Bulgarian flavours and hospitality.
Visit Sofia also organised a workshop dedicated to tourism and culture, showcasing the rich heritage of Sofia and Bulgaria and presenting the capital as an attractive cultural and tourism destination to the international academic community.
The conference programme also includes four keynote lectures on current topics in higher education, more than 18 working sessions, specialised academic groups and special interest groups, creating opportunities for in-depth professional dialogue and the exchange of successful practices.
By hosting this prestigious international conference, Sofia strengthens its position as an attractive destination for academic, cultural and professional events and demonstrates its potential as a European centre for education, knowledge exchange and innovation.
