To mark the 147th anniversary of Sofia becoming the capital of Bulgaria on 3 April, Visit Sofia is organising free educational walking tours for pupils in Grades 1 to 4 from schools across Sofia Municipality.
The initiative offers children the opportunity to take part in a 60-minute guided educational tour through the historic city centre. Designed to be engaging, interactive and easy to understand, the programme introduces young participants to one of the most significant moments in Bulgaria's modern history and explains how Sofia became the country's political and administrative capital.
The tour includes a short introduction followed by visits to key landmarks in the city centre that illustrate the early development of Sofia as Bulgaria's capital.
